As some of you may know from the very first newsletter a few weeks ago, I have been working on a project to help with the discoverability of DAOs which should be released very soon. We also recently welcomed our third team member, Noelle!
I came out of surgery last week, and can’t eat for two weeks — next thing you know food DAOs coming pouring onto the screen: coconuts, french fries, pizza.
Oh, unable use a sauna? Here is a DAO to purchase an entire spa village to let my thoughts marinate.
We spend a lot of time discussing how smart our systems have become thanks to technological advances like machine learning, but clearly the machines missed my memo. Let’s just hop right into this thing.
Hot DAOs Right Now
🥥 Kokonut Network
TIL the majority of coconuts are picked by trained monkeys. Most coconut oil and meat comes from Thailand where monkeys are used to climb trees and retrieve coconuts. Male monkeys on average get 1,600 coconuts a day compared to humans who can fetch about 80. They are also most likely the last food I could eat right now. Final Boss of gum surgery.
Coconuts are also one of the most useful fruits in the world. Should you want to invest in the swiss army knife of fruits and become a manager of a coconut farm. Stayed tuned. Kokonut Network has created a DAO to promote, fund, & manage coconut farms. The farms will be located in the Dominican Republic however, and I can not confirm if Monkey’s will be picking the coconuts. The DAO’s core team does expect a total of 10,663 direct and indirect informal jobs but I ran a situation through my head where the coconut farm employs people, only for the DAO to vote to replace those people with monkeys, significantly lowering the projected jobs. I am impartial.

♨️ Sätra Brunn DAO
Sätra Brunn is a Swedish Village and resort town known for its mineral spas. The Village runs as a business, currently producing $3.5 million in revenue per year but the villages current 15 member entrepreneurship group have decided to put it up for auction, citing a desire for younger owners.
And, well, DAOs are pretty young.
Enter Sätra Brunn DAO, an organization whose mission is to buy the 144 acre township of Sätra Brunn and govern it into the first-ever real world DAO-governed municipality — although they’ll have to race CityDAO to claim that first-ever crown 👑.
Sätra Brunn DAO is currently looking to fill core contributor roles and is actively fundraising. Check out the pinned Tweet to learn about how they plan to make the purchase, govern, and grow the Village of Sätra Brunn.
🍟 FriesDAO
is attempting to buy a fast food Franchise and create a community driven around a fast food franchise empire, built on the Ethereum blockchain and governed by the FriesDAO. In less than 24 hours of launching, the community has reached 1700 members. The current team has drafted a preliminary roadmap, started fundraising and is building the team. The tokens you can purchase are strictly governance tokens (ie. decide which fast food brand you want the DAO to purchase), and are not securities, meaning you should not be expecting a profit at this time. Tokens can however be traded on existing secondary markets with price fluctuations.
Do keep in mind one of the founding principles is to use the positive cash flow from the franchises to reacquire tokens, so that these tokens can go into a treasury and be used to incentive future community participation. This could open the door to possibly allowing the DAO to pursue a clear, transparent and for-profit status in the future. A difficultly of vetting and verifying some of these DAOs in the semi-anonymity of DAO core contributors, listening to video or audio content like the one FriesDAO produced with their AMA has been a great resource if you’re seriously thinking about joining some of these DAOs.
🗣️ ConcordeDAO
Concorde is a building a competitor to Discord. Their goal is to innovate much faster than Discord by open sourcing development instead of relying on a top down org structure. Their thought is that the compounding effect of quicker iteration speeds will help scale product development and increase productivity of its users. The core team plans to incentive developers to build by compensating for individual usage of a developers fork. This DAO is by far the most technical project I’ve covered this week and they seem to have a strong core team with backgrounds in aerospace systems engineering, law, and crypto. Drop into their discord and learn about open roles and how you can contribute.
💸 By-pass DAO
is a community driven DAO project that specializes in the trading of virtual real estate, metaverse, and gaming NFTs. Formed less than a week ago, the community will operate as a small and closed social club — 1045 membership supply limit with 3 different tiers and a closed invite only discord. DAO Funding Update
A new era in Golf has arrived folks as LinksDAO raises $10.4 million in 48 hours selling their NFTs. They also recently welcomed @StephCurry, an avid golfer and Point Guard for the Golden State Warriors as a member. Next, the DAO is planning to continue its mission of buying a golf course. I personally know a few of you in here, and definitely know there are some golfers. Join the discord and see how you can get involved. Membership can be purchased via OpenSea.
MoonDAO
Has now raised over $800k and is well on their way to accomplishing their mission of sending members of the DAO to low earth orbit on a SpaceX/Blue Origin/Virgin Galactic etc. rocket ship in 2022. Tickets go for “as low as $450k.” While the initial goal is to launch some lucky members to space, MoonDAO has future goals of growing their community to provide funding for space research and exploration, with the ultimate objective of creating a space colony.
